About Us
Lab Medicine Society of Kenya (LMSK) is a professional membership society founded in 2020 and registered on July 8, 2021 in pursuance of Section 10 of the Societies Act, Cap 108 of the Laws of Kenya. We are a purely apolitical and not-for-profit organization that is funded entirely by membership contributions and revenues from goods and services. We do not receive operational funding from governments or other organizations not affiliated to us.

Our Objectives
- To unite all Medical Laboratory Officers and Scientists in Kenya for the enhancement of peer review and information exchange.
- To establish and promote among its members a high standard of professional ethics and code of conduct and culture of professionalism in the practice of Laboratory Medicine in Kenya.
- To educate and inform the public, through workshops, seminars, webinars and boot camps as to the purpose, scope and practice of Laboratory Medicine and its role in healthcare service delivery.
- To contribute to the improvement of professionalism through continuous in-service training in emerging trends in Medical Laboratory Science, scientific research & advancement in diagnostic laboratory science and technology.
- To create a forum for information exchange and dissemination among its members through electronic and print media; publications, conferences and workshops or seminars.
- To participate in decision making process with other stakeholders within the Kenyan Ministry of Health on improvement of health service delivery when necessary.
- To sustain a harmonious working relationship between Medical Laboratory Officers and/or Scientists and other healthcare professionals.
- To affiliate, cooperate, subscribe or liaise with other societies, unions, associations, organizations or bodies within, or outside, the Republic of Kenya having objectives fully, or partly, similar to the objectives or some of the objectives of the Society.
- To represent Medical Laboratory Officers in any legal matter that is directly or indirectly affecting their practice.

Membership Categories & Fees
Ordinary Membership — Eligibility: Holders of a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, or its derivative. Registration Fee: KES 750.00. Monthly Subscription: KES 300.00. Voting Rights: Yes.
Honorary Membership — Eligibility: Open. Registration Fee: KES 2,400.00. Monthly Subscription: None. Voting Rights: No.
Associate Membership — Eligibility: Students of Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science indexed by the KMLTTB. Fee: KES 200.00. Monthly Subscription: Exempted. Voting Rights: No.

Code of Ethics
The Lab Medicine Society of Kenya has developed a Code of Ethics in consultation with its members, excerpted from the appendix to the Constitution of the Society. It defines expectations of ethical behaviour for all members, covering Professional Development, Confidentiality, and Safe Practices, and provides a framework for professional and personal self-evaluation.
